Sorghum ASP 25

Technical Potential of the Universal Hybrid

ASP 25 is the result of breeding work by the Slavyanskoye Pole Institute, where the focus was placed on the plasticity of the genetic material. In changing climate conditions, this sorghum hybrid demonstrates an adaptive strategy, allowing farmers to choose between three production scenarios: grain production, hay harvesting, or silage storage.

Engineering Development Features

• Plant Architecture: The hybrid possesses a powerful leaf-stem structure, which is critical for biomass accumulation in silage applications. The plant height allows it to compete effectively with weeds during early vegetation stages.
• Biological Resource: The breeding program focuses on increasing the nutrient digestibility coefficient. This makes ASP 25 a valuable asset for livestock farms, reducing ration costs through high feed unit values.
• Harvesting Technology: Uniformity of crops and lodging resistance minimize losses during mechanical harvesting, regardless of the chosen usage vector (grain or forage).

Practical application of ASP 25 is justified in drought-prone regions. The hybrid's high drought tolerance is ensured by a metabolic physiology that maintains productivity even under moisture stress, whereas other crops like corn would show significant yield declines.
