Sorghum SOLARIUS

French Genetics for Forage Sorghum

The «Solarius» sorghum hybrid by Pms Industries S. A. is a mid-early maturity variety designed to maximize biomass output. Its genetic foundation, developed by Sud Cereales and Novartis Seeds, ensures high resilience and adaptability across various temperate climatic conditions.

Technical Specifications and Morphology

The primary advantage of this hybrid is its growth profile. Reaching a height of 180–200 cm, «Solarius» maintains a robust yet leafy habit. This balance is crucial for fodder production, as the leaf-to-stem ratio dictates the total energy density of the silage and its overall palatability for livestock.

• Vegetation period (90–100 days): The hybrid efficiently utilizes the growing season, ensuring stable maturation even in regions with moderate continental climates.
• Application: The biological potential of «Solarius» is optimized for dual purposes: producing high-quality hay and generating energy-rich silage.

Agronomic Value and Feed Quality

By leveraging French breeding expertise, this hybrid provides farmers with predictable yields in terms of dry matter. The balanced vegetation period allows the plant to accumulate sufficient sugar levels before the ensiling process begins. The high fiber digestibility found in this hybrid reduces the need for expensive feed concentrates, making livestock diets significantly more cost-effective.

To achieve maximum yield potential, it is recommended to maintain optimal plant density, allowing the crop to reach its 2-meter height potential without competing for light or moisture. Choosing «Solarius» means investing in the long-term stability and quality of your enterprise's forage inventory.
