Sorghum ANION

A Versatile Choice for Livestock

The «Anion» sorghum variety is designed for farmers who prioritize operational flexibility. Developed by the researchers at RosNIIPTI SK / Saratov GUGBI, this variety was created to build a balanced fodder base capable of performing in three distinct directions: hay, silage, and grain.

What sets «Anion» apart?

The main advantage of this variety is its plasticity. While many hybrids are strictly specialized, «Anion» allows farm managers to adjust their harvesting strategy during the growing season. If weather conditions or current farm needs require an immediate boost in feed stocks, the crop can be used for green mass or hay. Conversely, if the goal is high-quality silage or grain production, the variety demonstrates excellent productivity, yielding nutritious light-brown grain.

Who is this variety for?

«Anion» is optimal for medium to large livestock enterprises that focus on developing their own feed supply. It is particularly effective in regions prone to dry spells, where traditional cereal crops often suffer significant yield drops. The variety is hardy, exhibits strong growth energy, and provides a stable yield of dry matter.

• Nutritional Value: High sugar and protein content in the green mass makes it an excellent base for high-quality silage.
• Harvesting Flexibility: The ability to harvest at different development stages minimizes the risk of losses due to unpredictable weather.
• Grain Quality: The light-brown grain is highly digestible when used in mixed forage feeds.

Although highly productive, «Anion» requires strict adherence to planting schedules typical for sorghum crops. It is not a "hands-off" variety, but with proper agronomic management, it pays for itself much faster than specialized, single-purpose hybrids.
