The Sorghum-Sudangrass hybrid AMETHYST is a highly productive forage plant with a number of valuable agronomic and biological characteristics. The hybrid is characterized by early maturity with a vegetative period of 44 to 51 days, allowing the first cut to be harvested as early as 50-55 days after germination. Plants reach heights from 185 to 250 cm, have an upright and compact bush with high branching — from 10 to 18 stems per plant. Stems are juicy, leaves are wide-linear, 45-60 cm long and 4.0-4.5 cm wide, which contributes to high green mass productivity. AMETHYST is characterized by high yield: grain is harvested in amounts from 6.0 to 7.2 t/ha, and green mass — from 35.4 to 40.0 t/ha. Protein content in green mass reaches 12.8-13.5%, ensuring high nutritional value of the feed. The hybrid is drought resistant, does not lodge, has comparative resistance to smut and bacterial blight, and is not damaged by head diseases. It regenerates quickly after cuts, allowing up to three cuts per season with an interval of 35-40 days between them. Hybrid features include high plant density — from 160 to 250 thousand plants per hectare, which contributes to maximum use of sown area. The panicle is spreading and drooping, 25-35 cm long, seeds are oval-round, light-dark brown color. AMETHYST is well adapted to various growing conditions, making it a reliable choice for forage production, ensuring stable and high yields of dry matter and green mass.
