DYOYUM is a short-season variety-line hybrid of grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), intended for use in both the food industry and animal feed production. It is characterized by high lodging resistance and a good thousand-kernel weight of 26.8 grams. The average yield of the variety in the North Caucasus region is 26.7 centners per hectare, which exceeds the standard by 2.5 centners, while maximum yield indicators reached 58.9 centners per hectare on test plots.
Sorghum DYOYUM is undemanding regarding growing conditions, germinates quickly within 7-10 days, and requires a sunny location for optimal growth. Sowing is recommended to be shallow, up to 1 cm, with moderate density to ensure the formation of large seed heads. The crop does not make high demands on soils and irrigation, but requires regular weeding to combat weeds, as sorghum tolerates their competition poorly.
Sorghum in general is a promising grain crop, holding the fifth place in the world by production volume. It is resistant to pests, undemanding regarding fertilizers, and differs in high yield. In addition to the grain direction, sorghum is used in silage, sugar, and other directions, as well as in bioenergy. The variety DYOYUM fits perfectly into these trends, offering a reliable and productive option for agrarians interested in efficient grain sorghum cultivation.
