Originator — Institute of Plant Growing named after V. Ya. Yuryev, NAAN.
Variety distinguishing features. Variety — ukrainica. Plants with determinate growth type, height 100-110 cm, compact, semi-compressed form with thin central stem. Pubescence reddish-brown, flowers purple, seeds spherical, light-yellow with greenish tint, hilum brown with eye, 1000 seed mass 150-160 g.
Biological features. Medium-maturing variety, vegetation period 105-110 days. Variety resistant to adverse environmental conditions, lodging (8.0-9.0 points), seed shattering (8.0-9.0 points), pathogens and pests (8.0 points), has high attachment of lower pod (15-21 cm), suitable for mechanical harvesting.
Agricultural features. Recommended seeding rate 0.6-0.7 million germinating seeds per hectare. Seeding method — conventional row or wide-row (row spacing 45 cm). Agronomic practices are standard for the growing zone.
In competitive variety trials at the Institute of Plant Growing named after V. Ya. Yuryev (1999-2001), the variety yielded 2.9 t/ha. In production conditions in Kharkiv region in 2005, yield was 3.6 t/ha. In Kherson region (Institute of Irrigated Agriculture) in 2011, yield was 2.86 t/ha. Potential yield 3.7-4.0 t/ha, protein content in seeds — 39-41%, oil — 22-23%.
