Lilac EVENING MOSCOW

A Landmark of Russian Breeding

The 'Vechernyaya Moskva' (Evening Moscow) lilac stands as a testament to the rigorous work of Russian breeders Sergey and Olga Aladin, Tatyana Polyakova, and Vladimir Arkhangelsky. It has earned a reputation as a premium ornamental variety, balancing intense floral beauty with manageable proportions, making it a staple for modern landscape architecture.

Morphology and Growth Patterns

This variety is characterized by a moderate growth rate. Mature specimens typically reach a height of 1.5–2 meters, with a crown spread of 1–1.5 meters. Such compact dimensions are a distinct advantage for smaller garden plots where space management is critical. The hallmark of this lilac is its deep violet inflorescences that provide a dense and vibrant aesthetic during the blooming season.

Landscape Utility

Designed with versatility in mind, 'Vechernyaya Moskva' is highly effective for creating formal or naturalistic hedges. Unlike larger, wild-type lilacs, this selection maintains a tidy habit with minimal intervention, reducing the need for aggressive pruning. Whether used as a standalone focal point or integrated into structured shrub borders, it offers consistent visual appeal and robust performance throughout the growing cycle.
