SIDERAL — a medium-maturing sugar beet variety with universal and waste-free utility. The vegetation period is 115-120 days from germination, allowing cultivation in open ground for use on the fresh market and for storage. This variety is distinguished by the fact that all parts of the plant are useful and can be used in cooking, for example, for preparing borscht and kvass, as well as in feed and technical purposes, including sugar and molasses production.
The SIDERAL rootstock is large, cylindrical-conical in shape, deeply embedded in the soil, and has an average weight of about 700 grams. Its surface is relatively smooth, reducing soil adhesion during harvesting. The plant is characterized by a semi-spreading rosette of leaves with a medium-sized, solid, and moderately corrugated leaf blade. The root system is taproot and penetrates to a depth of 2-2.5 meters, contributing to drought and cold resistance.
The variety is distinguished by high resistance to major diseases such as cercosporosis, powdery mildew, and rootstock rot. Sowing is recommended in April at a depth of 2-3 cm with a row spacing of 20x50 cm, and harvest should be conducted from July to September. SIDERAL is a first-generation hybrid, a single-seeded diploid on a sterile N-type base, which ensures high yield and sugar content up to 17.3%. The average rootstock weight varies by region, reaching from 494 to 700 grams, and yield can exceed 500 centners per hectare.
