RMS 73

RMS 73 — a sugar beet variety bred by the All-Russian Sugar Beet Research Institute (VNIIS), intended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Volga-Vyatsk, Middle Volga, Lower Volga, Central Black Earth, and North Caucasus. This variety is characterized by high yield, reaching 37 to 45 tons per hectare during variety trials, and stability of indicators under various weather conditions. The root crops have a cylindrical shape and are deeply buried in the soil by 80-95%, which contributes to their good development and protection from adverse factors.

RMS 73 is characterized by a high sugar content in the root crops — about 18-18.8%, which ensures a high sugar collection per hectare, reaching in some regions more than 80 centners. The variety has resistance to the main diseases of sugar beet, such as root borer, head rot, root rots, powdery mildew, and cercosporosis, which reduces crop losses and improves the quality of raw materials for processing. Thanks to these qualities, RMS 73 has high technological characteristics, which makes it attractive for industrial cultivation.

To fully realize the potential of the variety, the use of mineral fertilizers is recommended, which significantly increase yield and sugar content of root crops.
