Sugar beet BORISLAV is a first-generation hybrid belonging to the medium-maturing yield-sweet varieties. This single-shoot diploid hybrid, developed on a sterile N-type base, was developed by STRUBE D&S GMBH & CO. KG and recommended for cultivation in the Central Chernozem and North Caucasus regions, including the Kursk region. BORISLAV is distinguished by high yield and sugar content, making it a profitable choice for agricultural production.
Average root yield in the region is about 481.7 centners per hectare, with sugar content reaching 19% and sugar harvest amounting to 91.3 centners per hectare. The average mass of one root is 551 grams. Compared to the reference variety Lygovsky MS 29, BORISLAV shows significant growth in yield and sugar harvest, losing only slightly in sugar content. Over the years of testing, the hybrid demonstrated resistance to powdery mildew, root rot, and root borer, as well as low susceptibility to cercosporosis.
For successful cultivation of sugar beet BORISLAV, optimal germination and growth conditions are important. Seeds can germinate at temperatures from +5°C, although the optimal temperature range is considered to be 13-15°C. Lack of light negatively affects the sugariness and yield of plants. Modern varieties, including BORISLAV, can contain 18 to 20% sugar, ensuring high sugar production efficiency.
