LMS 98

LMS 98 is a hybrid sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L. ssp. vulgaris var. saccharifera Alef.), representing a single-seed triploid hybrid on a sterile N-type base. The plant belongs to medium-late sugar varieties, ensuring high yield and sugar content in root crops. The hybrid is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the Central Black Earth, North Caucasian, and Lower Volga regions, as well as the Republic of Crimea, indicating its adaptability to different climatic conditions.

In different regions, yield and sugar content indicators vary: in the Central Black Earth region, the average yield is about 414 c/ha with 15.7% sugar content, in the North Caucasian region — 414.6 c/ha and 14.8% respectively, and in the Lower Volga region, yield reaches 379.8 c/ha with a high sugar content of 18.7%. This ensures a significant sugar collection, reaching up to 82 c/ha in the Lower Volga region, making LMS 98 profitable for industrial sugar production.

The hybrid has certain susceptibility to root rot and powdery mildew, as well as weak infection by cercosporosis, which requires attention during agronomic measures and plant protection. Medium-late maturity period allows optimal harvest planning. LMS 98 combines high productivity and sugar content, making it an attractive choice for farmers focused on obtaining high-quality and high-yield sugar beets.
