Sugar beet of the Limousine variety is characterized by high sugar content and high root yield. The roots have an oval-conical shape and average weight of about 900 grams, with approximately 80-85% of the root located underground. Sugar content reaches 18%, and yield may reach up to 110 tons per hectare. The leaf rosette is medium-sized and dark green, indicating good plant development. The variety is resistant to leaf diseases, allowing harvest at medium and late stages without loss of sugar quality.
Limousine exhibits high resistance to drought, cold, flowering, and other diseases. Due to its well-developed root system capable of absorbing water from depths up to 2.5 meters, the plant can withstand adverse weather conditions. Sugar beet is warm-loving and heat-tolerant, with an optimal temperature for growth and development of 20-22°C; however, photosynthesis effectively occurs even at temperatures above 40°C. Seeds germinate over a wide temperature range from +4 to +17°C, with germination time depending on soil temperature.
Recommended plant density at harvest is 90,000 to 115,000 plants per hectare, with a sowing rate of 1.3 seeding units per hectare. The variety is suitable for cultivation in various climatic zones, including Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe. Limousine exhibits good storability and stable productivity under different weather conditions, making it a reliable choice for medium-term harvests.
