VYATKA 2 is a winter rye variety developed by agricultural institutions and included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation. It is recommended for cultivation under various climatic conditions, specifically in the Northern, Northwestern, and Volga-Vyatsk regions, including the northern zone of the Kirov region, the Republic of Mordovia, and the Tver region. The variety is medium-late ripening, possesses high winter hardiness and drought resistance, making it a reliable choice for regions with harsh climatic conditions.
VYATKA 2 is distinguished by high resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew, brown and stem rust, which affect it to a moderate degree. It also has high regrowth ability after snow mold infection and resistance to lodging. The variety demonstrates high tolerance to acidic soils with elevated aluminum ion content, which expands the possibilities of its cultivation on various soil types.
The yield of the variety is stable and high, with a potential indicator of over 7.0 tons per hectare, averaging 46.2 centners per hectare, with maximum values reaching up to 68.6 centners. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 26.0 to 32.0 grams. VYATKA 2 has high baking qualities, making it valuable for food purposes and one of the best domestic rye varieties capable of consistently forming high-quality grain in the Northeast zone of the European part of Russia.
