Winter rye of the "Khlebnoe" variety is a diploid variety with low plant height, reaching 100-110 cm, and erect growth habit. The ear is of medium length, loose, with moderate waxy coating and light grain pigment. The grain is medium-sized, with 1000 grain weight reaching up to 50 g. The variety is characterized by a short coleoptile with moderate anthocyanin coloration, as well as high awn density beneath the ear. The rye exhibits good resistance to cold, lodging, and shattering, ensuring stable yields under various climatic conditions. The "Khlebnoe" variety is registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine and demonstrates high yield performance — up to 80 centners per hectare, with potential yields reaching 92 centners per hectare. Average yields across different zones range from 49.3 to 56.4 centners per hectare, with guaranteed increases of 2.6–7.6 centners per hectare. Winter hardiness is rated at 8.4–8.9 points, and resistance to diseases and drought is considered relative, making the variety reliable for cultivation in various regions. A key feature is the protein content in the grain at 10–12%, and the falling number ranges from 212–235 seconds, indicating good grain quality. The "Khlebnoe" rye variety is widely used for flour and flakes production, and is also suitable for sprouting. The grains have an elongated shape and dark hue with a slightly sour-honey flavor, due to elevated levels of iodine, potassium, and fiber. Thanks to these properties, rye is a beneficial product for healthy nutrition, especially for weight loss, diabetes, and increased physical activity.
