Rye winter NOVOZYBKOVSKAYA NIVA® represents a new grain crop variety created at the Kaliningrad Research Institute of Agriculture. The variety was obtained through free hybridization of four breeding forms followed by selection for a complex of economically valuable traits, including green biomass yield and seed productivity. Thanks to this, the variety demonstrates high yield—up to 602 centners of green biomass and 143 centners of hay per hectare, with crude protein content at 14.2% with adequate nitrogen fertilizer application.
NOVOZYBKOVSKAYA NIVA® is distinguished by good winter hardiness and enhanced resistance to diseases, confirmed by long-term research results. During the 3-4 year growing period, the variety showed 25% higher disease resistance compared to other varieties, while seed productivity exceeded average indicators by 15%. Additionally, breeding efforts were directed towards reducing the length of the upper internode and stem height, which contributes to increased lodging resistance without using inbreeding, which may negatively affect productivity.
The variety is adapted for cultivation in various climatic conditions, including moderately continental climate with moderate precipitation and diverse soil types, such as podzolic loamy soils with moderate humus and nutrient content. This makes NOVOZYBKOVSKAYA NIVA® a universal choice for agronomic practice, ensuring stable and high yields with optimal use of agronomic techniques.
