Developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute of NAAS, the 'Tango MV' hybrid is a three-way cross designed to balance vegetative stability with high yield potential. With an FAO rating between 90 and 1240 and a maturity period of 110–120 days, this hybrid offers the flexibility required for various agro-climatic zones, allowing growers to adjust production cycles according to specific regional conditions.

Biological Protection and Resistance

The core of Tango MV's genetic architecture is its robust resistance to critical phytopathogens. The hybrid provides a highly effective barrier against common smut and a complex of stalk rots. This is not merely a breeding trait but a functional mechanism that prevents lodging, which is vital for efficient mechanical harvesting. Additionally, the hybrid displays resistance to the European corn borer, reducing the need for aggressive chemical insecticide applications.

Agronomic Grain Profile

The dent-type grain, combined with a high starch content of 75%, dictates the hybrid’s versatility in end-use applications. These grain characteristics allow for efficient utilization both for commercial grain production and for the production of high-energy silage. The three-way cross breeding system produces a strong heterosis effect, resulting in uniform stand development and high intensity of grain filling during the final stages of the vegetation period.
