Rootstock URAL 7

A Reliable Foundation for an Intensive Orchard

The semi-dwarf "Ural 7" is a solution that requires minimal effort in daily management while maintaining top-tier productivity.

Operations and Hardiness

The primary advantage of this rootstock is its phenomenal frost resistance. Working in regions where temperatures drop to -30°C, it eliminates the headaches associated with protective mulching or specialized root zone insulation. Trees on this rootstock are manageable; they do not exhibit excessive canopy density, which significantly speeds up annual pruning and crown balancing tasks.

Phytosanitary Benefits

From an operator's perspective, "Ural 7" is valuable because it reduces the overall burden of fungicide treatments. The rootstock shows strong immunity to a range of dangerous pathogens:

• Stinking smut;
• Brown and stem rust of wheat;
• Powdery mildew.

While preventative spraying remains necessary, the intervals between applications are extended, making chemical expenses more efficient and transparent. The rootstock is compatible with most modern commercial apple varieties, ensuring excellent grafting success and long-term stability.

Practical Verdict

If your strategy involves minimizing operational risks and securing a predictable harvest without battling the consequences of harsh winters, "Ural 7" meets those needs perfectly. It is a functional tool for growers who value cost-effectiveness and reliability over risky horticultural experiments.
