Rootstock 83 1 15

A Reliable Foundation for Intensive Orchards: Rootstock 83 1 15

In challenging climatic conditions, the choice of rootstock determines not only yield but the very survival of the orchard. Developed by researchers at the Michurinsk State Agrarian University (FGBOU VO Michurinsk GAU), the 83 1 15 rootstock is a specialized solution for apple orchards designed for regions with harsh winter climates.

The primary advantage of this rootstock is its remarkable adaptability to low temperatures. Its root system's ability to withstand frost down to -35°C makes it a top priority for commercial and farm orchards located in zones where traditional clonal rootstocks often fail due to soil freezing.

Technological Features and Protection

The variety was developed by experts D. Yu. Chestnykh, N. M. Solomatin, and A. V. Verzilin, with a focus on improving the biological resilience of planting material. Key characteristics that distinguish 83 1 15 from classical alternatives include:

• Immunity to Pathogens: The rootstock demonstrates high resistance to grapevine mildew and oidium, significantly reducing the pesticide load during the seedling cultivation stage.
• Technological Compatibility: Excellent graft compatibility with most modern apple varieties ensures a uniform, consistent orchard without mass rejection of the scion.

Who is this rootstock for?
The 83 1 15 is an optimal solution for orchardists in regions with unstable snow cover and extreme winter temperatures. If your goal is to minimize the risk of orchard loss due to root system frostbite, this material from Michurinsk GAU is a technologically sound choice. It combines a rigorous scientific approach to breeding with the practical durability required in modern agro-climatic conditions.
