Rootstock TIMIRYaZEVETs 5

A robust foundation for intensive apple orchards

The pursuit of balancing tree compactness with extreme winter hardiness has long been a priority for northern-latitude pomology. The rootstock «Timiryazevets 5» (internationally recognized as 62-396) has become the gold standard for growers who require a dwarf orchard capable of surviving harsh winters without significant root system damage. Developed by the Timiryazev Academy, this rootstock has cemented its reputation in the professional market as a synonym for reliability.

Core agronomic advantages

• Cold Resistance: The root system remains viable at soil temperatures as low as -30°C, making it an essential tool for regions where snow cover is inconsistent and winters are severe.
• Disease Resistance: The rootstock exhibits high natural resistance to root rot and fusarium wilt, which are significant threats to orchard health in neutral soil conditions.
• Dwarfing Effect: It effectively restricts tree height to 2.5–3 meters, significantly reducing labor costs for pruning and harvesting while optimizing fruit quality.

For those managing intensive apple orchards, «Timiryazevets 5» offers a distinct advantage: superior anchorage compared to many foreign super-dwarf rootstocks. While support systems are recommended, the trees maintain better stability in the field. This rootstock is the ideal choice for growers targeting stable yields and long-term orchard durability on neutral soils. By choosing this variety, you are investing in a proven technology that minimizes risk while maximizing production efficiency in challenging climatic zones.
