Rootstock C 79 1

Technical Profile of the C 79-1 Rootstock

The C 79-1 rootstock, developed by FNAC VIM, is a specialized solution designed for establishing semi-dwarf orchards. Its primary functional advantage lies in the precise regulation of scion vigor, which is crucial for accelerating fruit bearing and optimizing standard orchard management practices.

Agrobiological Parameters and Adaptation Factors

• Growth Type: The semi-dwarf nature of the rootstock creates an ideal balance between vegetative mass and generative productivity. This minimizes the need for heavy pruning and allows for efficient control of tree planting density per hectare.
• Climatic Constraints: This rootstock exhibits low frost resistance, with a critical temperature threshold of -15°C. Technically, this imposes strict requirements on site selection: cultivation is strictly recommended in regions with mild winters or where root protection systems are deployed.
• Root System Architecture: As a selection product from FNAC VIM, C 79-1 demonstrates predictable performance under standard soil conditions, ensuring consistent nutrient uptake for grafted cultivars without inducing excessive shoot overgrowth.

Practical implementation of C 79-1 requires an understanding of vegetation dynamics. It serves as a tool for developing orchards where climate and soil nutrition are strictly monitored. The main advantage of using this rootstock is the achievement of predictable canopy dimensions, which significantly simplifies mechanized harvesting and maintenance in warmer climate zones.
