URAL 8 rootstock – a medium-sized, upright apple rootstock that differs in high resistance to diseases and frosts, as well as good fruit taste qualities.
Bushes have straight, rounded medium-thickness shoots, non-branching, with strong hairiness on the upper half. Buds of medium size, slightly deflected, smooth and rounded; leaves are elongated, egg-shaped, green, shiny, with delicate venation and even edges. These characteristics ensure good photosynthesis and resistance to unfavorable conditions.
Rooting ability of the rootstock is rated 4.5 points, which makes it easy to root when budding. Compatibility with various apple varieties is high – up to 98 %. The rootstock is not demanding on soils and can yield up to 80–100 thousand pieces per hectare (10–12 pieces/bush). Thanks to winter hardiness and frost resistance, URAL 8 is suitable for a wide range of climatic zones and is a reliable choice for both horticulture and for breeding and growing apples.
