Description MM-106
Rootstock MM-106 is a semi-dwarf variant of medium height, obtained through the crossbreeding of varieties M 1 and Northern Scout under the guidance of British breeders. It is characterized by stable cold hardiness of the root system (successfully regrows after frosts down to –12 °C) and good drought resistance, making it suitable for a wide range of climate zones.

Trees on this rootstock reach heights of 3.8–4.2 m, have a pyramidal crown shape with slightly curved shoots, and sturdy wood. The root system penetrates deep into the soil, developing both vertical and horizontal roots, which ensures plant stability and effective nutrition. Thanks to its high yield and compatibility with many apple varieties, MM-106 is often used as a seedling source for scion combinations.

Fruit bearing begins as early as the 4–5th year after planting; the fruits differ in good marketability and stable output. The lifespan of trees on this rootstock ranges from 30 to 35 years, while the standard yield from orchard plots reaches 200,000–250,000 pieces per hectare. The rootstock adapts easily to various soil conditions and climatic features, making it a popular choice in both European countries and Ukraine.
