Rusich

The Rusich strawberry variety is a mid-late, non-everbearing variety developed in the Bryansk region. The bushes are vigorous, with a spherical shape and medium density, well-developed buds and roots. Leaves are dark green, weakly blistered, and of medium glossiness, while runners are medium-colored and occur in small quantities. Rusich is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to gray mold, and shows medium resistance to other diseases such as rust, spotting, and crown rot. The fruits are large, conical in shape, dark red in color with red flesh. Average berry weight ranges from 13.5 to 60 grams depending on growing conditions. Berries have a sweet-sour taste with a pronounced strawberry aroma, containing about 8.5% sugar, 0.8% acid, and a significant amount of vitamin C – up to 90 mg%. The taste rating reaches 4.5 points, indicating high fruit quality. Rusich is suitable for cultivation in the Central region of Russia on loose, highly fertile soils with pH 5.0–6.5, including chernozem, loam, and podzolic soils. Moderate moisture and good lighting are required for successful growth. The variety has high yield – about 10.46 tons per hectare, making it attractive for commercial cultivation. Thanks to its characteristics, Rusich is a universal variety suitable for both garden plots and orchards.
