The 'Vima Kxima' strawberry variety, developed in the Netherlands and included in the State Register for the Central Region, is a medium-late, non-remontant, universal-purpose variety. The plants are vigorous, semi-spreading, and well-branched, with large dark-green, oval- rhombic-shaped leaves with rounded teeth. The flowers are bisexual, large, white, and borne on short flower stalks at the leaf level, forming compact, multi-flowered inflorescences. The runners are thick, green with anthocyanin pigmentation, which promotes intensive propagation by division of the mother plant.
The berries of 'Vima Kxima' are large, dark-red, round or conical in shape, weighing 20 to 30 grams, with first-fruit berries reaching up to 120 grams. The flesh is dense, juicy, sweet, with a pronounced strawberry aroma, containing about 10% sugar. The fruits have a sweet-tart flavor and withstand transportation and short-term storage well. The yield of this variety reaches 14.5 centners per hectare, making it attractive for commercial cultivation.
The variety is cold-resistant and moderately heat-tolerant, but has low drought resistance; therefore, it is recommended to grow it on sunny sites with regular care. 'Vima Kxima' demonstrates good resistance to most diseases, although under insufficient care during rainy weather, gray mold may appear. Regular fertilization, thinning, and spacing of plants when overcrowded are necessary to maintain plant health and high yields.
