The Fregat raspberry variety represents a new Urals variety with large, light-red conical berries with medium fuzz. The berries possess a sweet-sour taste with aroma, average mass of about 2.9-3.6 grams, and maximum mass up to 5.1 grams. The flesh is of medium density, and the tasting evaluation of fresh berries reaches 4.5 points. The variety belongs to the medium-late ripening period and is a summer type, bearing fruit on the previous year's shoots, after which old shoots are removed.
Fregat raspberry bushes are of medium size and growth strength, with a weeping shape. Shoot-forming ability is average, forming 5-6 shoots per bush. Two-year-old fruiting stems are brownish-gray, straight, with medium prickliness: thorns are medium, straight, located along the entire stem on a purple base. One-year-old shoots are purple, covered with medium waxy bloom, without fuzz, with a large number of medium brownish-purple thorns. Leaves are medium, green, corrugated, with medium curling and fuzz, with medium-sharp teeth along the edges. Side fruiting twigs are hairless, with weak waxy bloom, small flowers.
The Fregat variety is distinguished by good yield and resistance to the main pests and diseases of raspberries, including purple blotch and anthracnose with a low level of damage. Average yield is about 27-37 ц/га, maximum — up to 56 ц/га. Sugar content in berries reaches 5.9%, acid — 3.0%, vitamin C — 27.9 мг/%. The variety is winter-hardy, with medium drought resistance, which makes it suitable for cultivation in the conditions of the Middle Urals and the Volga-Vyat region. Fregat is recommended for universal use and is distinguished by high commercial and consumer qualities.
