The yield per bush varies from 1 to 5 kilograms, making this variety one of the most productive remontant raspberry varieties. A feature of the variety is high frost resistance — it withstands temperatures up to -30° C, but does not tolerate drought well.
This raspberry variety was bred more than half a century ago and is intended for cultivation in southern and temperate climate zones. 'Babye summer' is distinguished by the unique taste of the berries and resistance to such diseases as gray mold and leaf curl. The fruits ripen twice per season: the first crop is harvested in August, and the second — in September, which allows obtaining fresh berries for a long time. The second crop forms on shoots of the new year and has time to fully ripen even in a rainy summer.
For successful cultivation of raspberry 'Babye summer', it is recommended to choose well-lit areas with well-drained soil and without stagnant moisture. Planting is possible both in spring and autumn, while autumn planting is preferable, as it better corresponds to the biological characteristics of the plant. After planting, the ridges should be mulched to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Care includes regular watering, fertilizing, and timely harvest collection. The plant does not require support and grows well without it, which facilitates care and berry collection.
