IVAN KUPALA

The 'Ivan Kupala' raspberry variety is the result of selection by the Federal Scientific Horticultural and Nursery Technology Center. This variety is included in the State Register for the Central region and is intended for cultivation both on an industrial scale and in personal subsidiary holdings. 'Ivan Kupala' is characterized by a medium ripening period and fruiting on two-year canes during the summer. Bushes are tall, powerful, and spreading, with average intensity of cane productivity. Two-year canes have a brownish-grey color and strong prickliness, while one-year canes are light brown with a large number of thorns. Leaves are large, green, with a medium degree of curling. The berries of the 'Ivan Kupala' variety have a conical shape and light red color. The average berry weight is 3.6 grams, with a maximum of up to 5.1 grams. Drupes are uniform and of medium size. The berry composition includes 8.7% sugars, 1.8% acids, and 83.0 mg% of vitamin C, which provides them with a sweet taste and distinct aroma. The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness, as well as medium heat tolerance and drought resistance, which makes it adapted to various climatic conditions. Special attention during the selection of the 'Ivan Kupala' variety was given to resistance to diseases and pests. It shows resistance to anthracnose, septoria, as well as to raspberry and spider mites.
