The Barnaulskaya raspberry variety, developed by M.A. Lisavenko's Research Institute of Horticulture, is a medium-early variety with high yields, averaging 4.75 t/ha and reaching up to 7.0 t/ha. Bushes are vigorous, reaching 150 to 250 cm in height, with powerful canes that are light green with a waxy bloom and drooping tops. Berries are bright red, oval-shaped, large, weighing from 1.9 to 3.6 g, with firm flesh and a sweet-sour taste. Sugar content reaches 6.85%, acidity up to 1.65%, and vitamin C up to 38.9 mg%, ensuring good fruit flavor.
Barnaulskaya raspberry is characterized by synchronized and early ripening, allowing timely harvest collection. Bushes possess high cane-forming ability, contributing to stable yields. The variety has satisfactory winter hardiness and average resistance to anthracnose, but has low resistance to diseases and pests, particularly to spider mites, which can cause significant damage in dry years. Infection with purple spot is weak in this variety.
This variety is widely used both in industrial plantations and private gardens, thanks to its advantages—large berries, high yield, and good taste. Barnaulskaya raspberry is suitable for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the North, Northwestern, Central, Volga-Vyatka, Middle-Volga, Ural, Western Siberia, Eastern Siberia, and Far Eastern regions. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to consider the variety's resistance features and apply pest control measures.
