Raspberry DrisRaspFive

Operational insights and growing experience

When working with the “DrisРаспФайв” (DrisRaspFive) variety from Driscoll’s, it is clear that American genetics are focused on commercial efficiency. In an intensive orchard, this hybrid acts as a workhorse: double cropping allows you to consistently meet market demand at both the beginning and the end of the season. The canes are low-thorn, which significantly simplifies maintenance — pruning and thinning tasks are completed without unnecessary scratches or wasted time.

Fruit quality and post-harvest handling

A fruit weighing 10g+ sets a serious standard for raspberries. The conical shape is visually appealing, and the berry firmness ensures that the product reaches the point of sale without losing its commercial appearance. The flavor is distinctly sweet, lacking excessive acidity, which is crucial for the end consumer. Importantly, the variety performs exceptionally well in processing and freezing: after thawing, the berry retains its structure without turning into mush, which broadens sales opportunities.

Maintenance efficiency

The main advantage of “DrisРаспФайв” is its technological efficiency. While minimal requirements for the growing environment do not mean zero work, this variety is more forgiving of deviations in irrigation or fertilizing schedules than most market alternatives. Labor costs are lower due to the convenient bush structure. This is the optimal choice for those looking to harvest consistently large berries with predictable investments in plantation maintenance.
