Raspberry Novost Mykolaichuka

Professional cultivation of the 'Novost Mykolaichuka' raspberry

Developed by the L.P. Simirenko Institute of Pomology, 'Novost Mykolaichuka' is a cultivar designed for professional growers who prioritize plant health and fruit quality. It is a classic single-harvest variety that requires disciplined management to reach its full productive potential of 2–3 kg per bush.

Disease resistance and operational efficiency

A key advantage of this variety in commercial orchards is its inherent resistance to common fungal pathogens, specifically mycospherella leaf spot and brown spot. By integrating this variety, growers can effectively reduce the frequency of fungicidal applications. However, it is essential to note that this resistance does not negate the need for intensive care: the variety is demanding regarding nutrition and water management.

• Ease of maintenance: The canes are characterized by low thorniness, which significantly increases picking efficiency and reduces labor costs during pruning.
• Crop management: As a single-harvest variety, it requires clear planning for seasonal nutrient application and hydration.
• Market value: The berries possess a balanced sweet-and-sour flavor profile, making them versatile for both fresh market sales and processing.

Best practices for the orchard

To maximize yields, we recommend cultivating this variety using trellis systems. Given the high productivity, proper support prevents lodging, ensures optimal air circulation within the canopy, and simplifies the harvest process. The 'Novost Mykolaichuka' is an excellent choice for farms aiming for a stable, high-quality harvest, provided they have the infrastructure to support its high nutrient and moisture requirements throughout the growing cycle.
