The TAIRA strawberry variety is a mid-late variety of domestic breeding, developed based on the Marmolada and Pandora varieties. The bushes of this variety are medium-sized, spreading, with a semi-spherical shape and medium leaf density of dark green color. Bush height reaches about 35 cm. Flowering stems form large, glossy berries of a rich red shade with a short-conical shape. The average berry weight ranges from 18 to 33 grams, while the maximum mass can reach 50 grams. The flesh is light red, juicy, and dense, possessing a sour-sweet taste with a rich strawberry aroma. Taira belongs to short-day varieties with one fruiting wave, maturing from early to late June. The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness, drought resistance, and heat tolerance, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions, including the North Caucasus region. Bushes possess high immunity, are weakly affected by diseases and pests, which contributes to stable and abundant yields reaching 24 tons per hectare. The dense texture of the berries ensures good transportability, which is an important advantage for commercial cultivation. For optimal growing, planting schemes of 90×25 cm are recommended with conventional technology and 110+40×30 cm with intensive technology. The commercial attractiveness of the variety is due to the late maturity, high productivity, resistance to unfavorable conditions and diseases, as well as quality taste characteristics of the berries. The biochemical composition of the fruits includes sugar content of 7.2-8.3% and ascorbic acid of about 70.7 mg per 100 grams, which further emphasizes their nutritional value.
