Raspberry variety Poemát — this is a promising remontant variety developed by Polish breeders based on the Polish variety. It is characterized by early ripening, with harvesting occurring in mid-July to early August. Plants of this variety can reach up to 2.5 meters in height, possess strong growth, and form rigid canes with a small number of thorns, primarily in the upper part. The main harvest forms on one-year-old canes, allowing for mechanical harvesting, and the dry detachment of berries makes collection convenient and pleasant.
The berries of the Poemát raspberry have a rich, bright red color with a characteristic gloss and conical shape. They are large, weighing about 5-6 grams, with small drupelets, which gives the fruits firmness and durability. Thanks to these qualities, the raspberry withstands transportation well and retains excellent market appearance. The taste of the berries is sweet with a slight acidity, and the taste is influenced by the iron content in the soil, so it is important to ensure sufficient amounts of this micronutrient during cultivation. Poemát raspberry is versatile in use: it can be eaten fresh, frozen, and used for preservation.
The variety is characterized by high cold resistance, tolerating temperatures down to -30 degrees Celsius, which corresponds to USDA Zone 5. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to plant raspberries in sunny areas protected from wind and drafts, with fertile and moist soil where groundwater is located at sufficient depth. The optimal soil pH level is around 7. Poemát is highly valued by Polish gardeners for its high yield — about 4-5 kilograms of berries per bush — as well as for its resistance to various diseases and damage.
