Driscoll Maravilla raspberry is one of the most delicious and promising remontant varieties, developed in 1996 in California, USA. This variety has a medium-late ripening period, starting at the end of July and continuing until the end of October, ensuring a prolonged fruiting period. The bushes are vigorous, with upright canes up to 2.5 meters tall, covered with small purple thorns that turn reddish-purple in autumn. Canes produce a small number of lateral branches and little root suckering, which simplifies care and harvest. Leaves are large, wrinkled with a deep pattern, giving the plant a decorative appearance.
Driscoll Maravilla berries are large, conical in shape, bright red with a glossy surface. Average fruit weight is 12-14 grams, though berries may range from 6 to 14 grams, 2.5-3 cm long and 1.5-2 cm wide. Fruits are firm, with small, well-adhering drupelets, possessing a sweet flavor with a slight acidity and pleasant aroma. Berries detach dryly, which helps maintain quality during harvest and transport. Due to their high density and firmness, raspberries exhibit excellent marketability, high transportability, and long shelf life.
The variety is characterized by high yield — up to 10 kg per bush, with industrial yields reaching 20-30 tons per hectare in greenhouse tunnels, and even higher in greenhouses. Raspberries are resistant to major diseases, cold-tolerant, and drought-resistant, allowing cultivation in various climatic conditions. Thanks to these qualities and low maintenance requirements, Driscoll Maravilla is suitable for both home gardeners and commercial cultivation.
