Agrotechnical Guidelines for KWS GLORIOS

German breeding company KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA introduces the KWS GLORIOS hybrid to the Ukrainian market in 2026, setting new benchmarks for intensive rapeseed production. Maximizing the yield potential of this hybrid requires strict adherence to agrotechnical protocols throughout the entire vegetation period.

Sowing Strategy and Soil Requirements

KWS GLORIOS thrives on fertile, well-aerated soils with a neutral pH (6.0–7.0). The hybrid is sensitive to soil compaction, making deep tillage a mandatory preparation step. The optimal sowing window is the second half of August. It is essential to ensure proper seed-to-soil contact at a depth of 2–3 cm. The recommended plant density at harvest is 40–45 plants per square meter, achieved with a seeding rate of 450,000–500,000 viable seeds per hectare.

Crop Management and Development

• Autumn Phase: The primary objective is to develop a robust root collar (at least 8–10 mm in diameter) and a rosette of 8–10 leaves before the onset of winter dormancy. Growth regulators should be applied if necessary to prevent excessive elongation.
• Spring Regrowth: Early nitrogen fertilization is critical. The hybrid responds well to split nitrogen applications, which allows for precise management of plant architecture and branching.
• Protection and Nutrition: Given its intensive growth type, monitoring phytosanitary conditions during budding and flowering is vital to protect against pests like the pollen beetle and diseases such as Alternaria.

KWS GLORIOS is characterized by high lodging resistance and uniform ripening, which minimizes harvest losses. The hybrid requires balanced sulfur and boron nutrition, particularly during the stem elongation phase, to ensure optimal pod filling.
