Agronomic Profile of the Schumacher Hybrid

The Schumacher hybrid, developed by the German company Deutsche Saatveredelung AG (DSV) and registered in Ukraine in 2026, is designed for intensive farming systems. Its performance is highly dependent on precise management of sowing dates and plant density to maximize yield potential.

Sowing and Soil Management

• Sowing Window: The optimal period is between August 10th and 25th. Early planting must be managed carefully to prevent excessive rosette growth, which can compromise winter hardiness.
• Seeding Rate: The target density at harvest should be 40–45 plants per square meter. Consistent seeding depth (2–3 cm) is essential for uniform emergence.
• Soil Requirements: This hybrid thrives in loamy, fertile soils with a neutral pH (6.0–7.0). Avoid fields prone to waterlogging, as the root system requires good aeration, especially during the autumn establishment phase.

Growth Phase Management

The primary goal in autumn is to develop a robust root collar (at least 8–10 mm in diameter) and 8–10 true leaves before the onset of winter dormancy. Growth regulators should be applied at the 4–6 leaf stage if necessary. Spring management starts with early nitrogen application (60–80 kg N/ha) immediately after the resumption of vegetation. During the budding phase, it is critical to implement a robust pest control program (specifically targeting the pollen beetle) and fungicide applications to protect against Phoma and Alternaria, ensuring the hybrid's high-growth potential is fully realized.
