Cultivation Guidelines for MIKOSH Hybrid

The MIKOSH rapeseed hybrid, registered in Ukraine in 2026 by the renowned breeder NPZ (Norddeutsche Pflanzenzucht Hans-Georg Lembke KG), is designed for intensive farming systems. Achieving its full yield potential requires strict adherence to specific agronomic practices, particularly regarding sowing windows and nutrient management.

Sowing Strategy and Plant Density

The success of MIKOSH begins with precise sowing. The goal is to ensure the plant enters the winter dormancy phase with a well-developed rosette of 8–10 leaves and a root collar diameter of at least 10–12 mm. Sowing too early risks excessive growth, while late sowing prevents the plant from accumulating sufficient energy reserves.

• Seeding Rate: The recommended density is 40–50 viable seeds per square meter. Precision drilling is advised to ensure uniform spacing, which allows each plant to maximize its branching potential.
• Seedbed Preparation: MIKOSH requires a firm, fine-textured seedbed. Sowing depth should be maintained at 2–3 cm to ensure consistent moisture uptake and uniform emergence.

Nutrient Management and Soil Requirements

MIKOSH is highly responsive to intensive fertilization. A split application of nitrogen is recommended: the first dose in early spring to stimulate vegetative growth, and the second during the stem elongation phase. Boron application is critical; it should be applied during the rosette stage in autumn and again in early spring to support pod development and prevent stem cracking.

Soil preferences: This hybrid performs best on fertile, well-structured soils with a neutral to slightly acidic pH. On heavy clay soils, proper drainage is essential, as waterlogging during the autumn or early spring can severely inhibit root development and winter survival. By maintaining optimal soil aeration and providing a balanced nutrient supply, growers can ensure the robust development of MIKOSH throughout all growth stages.
