Agrotechnological potential of the Linford hybrid

The breeding program from the German giant NPZ (Norddeutsche Pflanzenzucht Hans-Georg Lembke KG) sets new standards for Ukrainian rapeseed production. The Linford hybrid, registered in 2026, requires precise adherence to technological protocols from agronomists to fully unlock its genetic yield potential.

Optimizing the sowing campaign

To realize its high early-stage growth energy, sowing Linford is recommended within the optimal timeframe for the specific region. Excessively early sowing can lead to rosette overgrowth, increasing the risk of winterkill, while delays reduce the plant's ability to develop a robust root system before the onset of cold weather.

• Planting density: The recommended seeding rate is 40–50 viable seeds per square meter. This ensures an optimal feeding area and reduces competition between plants.
• Sowing depth: 2–3 cm, depending on the moisture content of the seedbed. Ensuring firm soil-to-seed contact is crucial for uniform emergence.

Care and nutrition

Linford is highly responsive to intensive nutrition programs. The primary focus is on autumn application of micronutrients, particularly boron, which is critical for the development of the growing point and overwintering success. Spring nitrogen fertilization should be split: the first application on frozen soil, and the second at the beginning of stem elongation.

The hybrid demonstrates high lodging resistance; however, under intensive cultivation, the use of growth regulators is recommended at the 4–6 leaf stage in autumn and during stem elongation in spring. This helps form a compact yet productive stand capable of withstanding stressful weather conditions.

Soil requirements

The hybrid performs best on fertile chernozem soils with a neutral or slightly acidic pH. A key requirement is the absence of soil compaction, as Linford's well-developed root system requires good aeration for efficient uptake of moisture and nutrients during dry periods.
