Sowing and Field Placement

The optimal sowing window for KWS PETKOS CL is between August 10th and 25th. Early establishment is crucial to ensure the plant develops a robust rosette before winter dormancy. The target plant density at harvest should be 45–50 plants per square meter. Ensure consistent seed depth of 2–3 cm in a well-prepared, fine-textured seedbed to promote uniform emergence.

Soil Requirements and Nutrition

This hybrid thrives in fertile, loamy soils with a neutral pH. Because it is a Clearfield hybrid, crop rotation planning must account for the residual activity of imidazolinone herbicides. A split-application approach for nitrogen is recommended: the first dose applied on frozen soil (40–60 kg N/ha), and the second during the stem elongation phase (60–80 kg N/ha). Boron application is essential for root development and reproductive organ formation.

Growth Stage Management

• Autumn: Weed control and monitoring for flea beetles at the 2–4 leaf stage. Growth regulators may be necessary to prevent premature stem elongation.
• Spring: Early monitoring for weevils and pollen beetles is critical as soon as temperatures rise.
