Vena radish is an early Sor-type hybrid developed by the Dutch company Enza Zaden. This variety features a short growing season—only 20-25 days from sowing to harvest—allowing cultivation across different seasons, including spring, summer, and autumn. The plant is compact with low foliage, which simplifies care and harvest. Vena radish adapts well to various soil types and is resistant to low temperatures, high solar activity, and moisture deficiency, making it a hardy and reliable choice for intensive agriculture. Vena radish fruits are round, with a diameter of 3 to 5 cm and a weight of 25 to 35 g, featuring a bright red, glossy, and dense skin. The flesh is snow-white, uniform, juicy, and crisp, with a pleasant taste free from bitterness and with a slight spiciness. The roots are highly uniform in size and free of internal cavities, enhancing their market appeal. Vena radish is resistant to cracking and bolting, ensuring it maintains excellent appearance and taste during storage and transport. Yield ranges from 2.2 to 2.7 kg per square meter. Vena radish is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under film covers, including greenhouses. It retains its quality well during cool storage for several months, as well as for short-term storage of 7-8 days after harvest. Due to the good attachment of the leaf apparatus to the root, radish is conveniently sold in bunches and by weight. This hybrid is an excellent choice for culinary use and commercial growing due to its resilience, high yield, and superior taste characteristics.
