The Askania radish variety is an early-maturing, high-yielding variety that matures within 22–24 days. The root crops of this radish are large, weighing about 20–21 grams, with a bright red saturated color and a smooth elliptical or round shape with a thin tail. The flesh is dense, juicy, crisp, and very tender, possessing excellent taste qualities. This variety is distinguished by its resistance to bolting and maintains its market appearance for a long time, retaining freshness and elasticity after harvest. Askania radish is intended for cultivation in open ground from spring to autumn, as well as in protected ground in spring and in August-September. Seeds are recommended to be sown in loose fertile loam or loamy sand soil, avoiding the addition of fresh organic matter. Sowing is conducted in furrows 2–2.5 cm deep with an interval between plants of 10–15 cm, and between rows – about 15 cm. To obtain quality root crops, it is important to thin the sowings, water regularly, loosen and fertilize the soil, and also avoid overcrowding and overripening of the radish. The optimal temperature for the growth of Askania radish is 18–20°C, which makes it a cold-hardy crop. For sowing, several terms are used with an interval of 10–12 days, starting from mid-April and until mid-August, which allows obtaining a fresh harvest throughout the season. When adhering to agronomic requirements, this variety delights with a stable harvest of tasty and beautiful root crops, suitable for fresh consumption and various culinary purposes.
