Radish Orfei

Maximizing Early Yields with Radish 'Orpheus'

The 'Orpheus' radish is a high-performance cultivar designed for producers aiming at the early-season market. With a rapid vegetation cycle of 20–25 days, this variety serves as an essential tool for greenhouse and open-field growers who practice sequential planting. Its predictability ensures consistent market supply as soon as the season allows.

Operational Strategy for Growers

• Crop Rotation Efficiency: Given its ultra-early maturity, 'Orpheus' functions perfectly as a catch crop. It allows producers to harvest a commercial yield before transplanting warm-season vegetables like tomatoes or peppers into the same space.
• Harvest Parameters: The cultivar produces dark red, round-oval roots averaging 20–25 grams. The crisp white flesh provides excellent taste profiles that meet retail quality standards.
• Labour Optimization: The uniformity of the roots significantly reduces the time required for grading and bunching. This consistency is crucial for farms focused on wholesale distribution where packing speed and presentation quality are priority factors.

For successful cultivation, moisture management is key. The variety responds well to irrigation, which prevents the roots from developing a woody texture or excessive pungency. 'Orpheus' is recommended for growers seeking a reliable, high-turnover variety that thrives in early spring conditions.
