Radish ALBENA

Why Albena has become a market garden standard

When dealing with radish from Moravoseed, you immediately feel the Czech approach to plant breeding. Albena is not just another variety; it is a workhorse for those who don't like playing crop harvest lotteries.

Cultivation and Performance

• Ripening cycle: This is an early-maturing variety. With proper irrigation and optimal day length, Albena swells rapidly without bolting prematurely. This is critical when the market demands first-wave produce.
• Resistance to woody texture: The biggest issue with many varieties is rapid flesh hardening. Here, it remains juicy and crunchy even during temperature fluctuations.
• Appearance: Snow-white, firm flesh inside with a classic shape. It is easy to pack and sell, as the high-quality look is long-lasting.

Field Experience

For an agronomist, Albena is a convenient tool. The variety is undemanding regarding soil type but highly responsive to intensive watering. If you are growing radishes professionally, note this important detail: this variety performs perfectly both in open ground and in plastic tunnels. The roots do not crack when humidity levels change abruptly, saving a lot of nerves and money on culling. We recommend maintaining proper seed density, as the variety needs space to develop its round shape. If sown too densely, you might lose size caliber, but with correct agronomic practices, the marketable yield tends toward 95%.
