Guitar is a mid-season high-yield variety of butternut squash, distinguished by its original fruit shape resembling a guitar. The fruits have an elongated pear shape with an orange-greenish coloration and a compact seed arrangement within a small seed chamber. The squash flesh is very sweet, juicy, and tender, with a dense and crispy structure, rich in fiber, vitamins, mineral salts, and carotenes, making it particularly beneficial and nutritious. This squash variety is ideal for culinary use: the flesh makes an excellent filling for pies, as well as tasty candied fruits. For growing the "Guitar" variety, loamy sand and light loam soils are recommended. Sowing seeds should be done in soil warmed up to 10-12 degrees Celsius, to a depth of 5-10 cm, with 2-3 seeds per hole spaced about 70 cm apart. After seedlings appear, thinning is conducted, leaving the strongest plants. For successful growth and abundant fruiting, plants require timely watering, regular weeding, loosening, and fertilization with mineral fertilizers. When growing from seedlings, transplantation is carried out after the threat of frost has passed, when the seedlings reach 20 days old. The main stem is pinched above the fourth leaf, while 1-2 fruits are left on lateral branches, which promotes the formation of high-quality fruits and increases yield.
