Smaragd is an early-maturing, large-seeded confectionery sunflower variety developed by ART-Agro and adapted for cultivation in various regions. Plants reach a height of 140 to 195 cm, and the head diameter is 20-25 cm. The vegetation period of the variety is about 110 days, allowing for harvest in a short time. Smaragd is characterized by high yield potential up to 48 centners per hectare and average yield around 31 centners per hectare, making it a profitable choice for agricultural production on different soil types. The variety has high oil content — approximately 45% — which is especially valuable for confectionery and food industries. Smaragd has excellent taste qualities and high honey production properties, further expanding its applications. Plants are resistant to a wide range of diseases, including various types of rot, phomopsis, and sunflower rust. Additionally, the variety tolerates drought and demonstrates stable yields under different climatic conditions in Ukraine. For quality improvement and seed protection, carbendazim and metalaxyl-M are used. Seeds are packaged in three-layer paper bags of 150,000 units, ensuring convenient storage and transportation. Due to its adaptive properties, high productivity, and resistance to adverse factors, sunflower Smaragd is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve high-quality and stable yields.
