Potato Ukrainian Pink (Symbol)

Field Performance: The Ukrainian Pink (Symbol) Potato

Developed by the Institute of Potato Research of NAAS, the 'Ukrainian Pink' (also known as 'Symbol') is engineered for reliability. For a commercial grower, this variety stands out as a low-maintenance asset that performs consistently even under stressful environmental conditions.

Disease Resistance and Farm Management

The primary advantage for any operator is its natural resistance to late blight. In years with high humidity, where other varieties succumb to disease, 'Symbol' maintains healthy foliage for a longer period. This field resilience allows for a reduced fungicide spray program, directly cutting operational costs and labor time. Maintenance requirements are straightforward; it follows standard cultivation protocols without demanding complex specialized machinery or chemical inputs.

Marketability and Storage

• Skin: A vibrant pink hue with a robust texture, ensuring minimal mechanical damage during harvesting and transit.
• Storage stability: The tubers show excellent dormancy and are highly resistant to rot, making them ideal for long-term storage facilities.
• Culinary utility: High starch stability ensures the tubers maintain their structure during processing, making them a preferred choice for the retail market.

Choosing the 'Ukrainian Pink' means investing in predictability. It is a workhorse variety that delivers uniform, high-quality tubers with minimal downtime, providing an excellent return on investment for small to medium-sized operations.
