Penzenskaya Skorospelka is an early table potato variety characterized by high yield and good consumer qualities. The tubers are light beige with a bluish tint at the top, have deep eyes, and white flesh. The marketable tuber mass ranges from 120 to 150 grams, and starch content varies between 14–16%. The variety has high marketability — 75–90% — and excellent storability, reaching 92%, ensuring long-term storage without quality loss.
Penzenskaya Skorospelka is heat- and drought-resistant, making it especially valuable for cultivation in the Volga Region. The maturation period is 50–65 days, allowing for an early harvest. The number of tubers per plant reaches 8–12, and yield varies from 29 to 34.5 tons per hectare. The variety is resistant to Rhizoctonia and potato late blight (pathotype I), has moderate resistance to common scab, but is susceptible to phytophthora blight and tubers, as well as mosaic viruses and golden potato nematode.
In terms of taste, Penzenskaya Skorospelka belongs to the culinary type AB, making it versatile for various cooking methods: salads, soups, and frying. High marketability, good taste, and adaptability to adverse climatic conditions make this variety attractive for farmers and potato enthusiasts.
