Alzan

Alzan sunflower is a high-yielding and adaptable hybrid, developed under license from the French company Euralis Semences. This early-maturing variety features rapid development during early organogenesis and is ready for harvest by day 101 after sowing, with flowering beginning on day 66. Plant height reaches 169 cm, and the flower head diameter is approximately 20 cm, contributing to resistance against lodging due to its strong root system and sturdy stem.

The Alzan hybrid exhibits high cold tolerance (9 out of 10), making it especially suitable for cultivation under Ukraine's subtropical climate and enabling effective use of spring-winter moisture reserves. It also demonstrates resistance to major sunflower diseases, including phomopsis, phomopsis, and sclerotinia, as well as to 7 races of the parasitic weed — downy mildew (A-G). Thanks to these traits, Alzan is resistant to stresses such as drought and lodging, ensuring stable yields.

The potential yield of the hybrid is 56–59 centners per hectare, with actual results varying depending on region and growing conditions, reaching 28–45 centners per hectare. Oil content of the seeds ranges from 48–50%, meeting Ukrainian agricultural market requirements. To achieve maximum productivity, proper fertilizer application, herbicide use, and thorough soil preparation are recommended. Alzan is suitable for early planting on fertile soils and is an excellent choice for farmers aiming to obtain high and stable sunflower yields.
