Potato Rumpel

Rampel Potato: Polish Excellence in Nematode Resistance

For growers managing fields with a history of intensive potato production, soil-borne pathogens are a constant economic risk. The 'Rampel' variety, developed by Pomorsko-Mazurska Hodowla Ziemniaka, provides a robust defense against Golden Potato Cyst Nematode, allowing farmers to maintain yields without heavy reliance on chemical fumigants.

Agricultural Application and Market Utility

Rampel is a versatile variety designed to meet both fresh market and processing demands. Its practical value lies in three key areas:

• Fresh Market Appeal: The round-oval tubers with striking pink skin are highly attractive, meeting the aesthetic requirements of modern retail chains.
• Processing Efficiency: Its suitability for drying provides a strategic hedge for farmers, allowing them to supply processed food manufacturers when fresh market prices fluctuate.
• Sanitary Crop Rotation: Due to its genetic resistance to nematodes, it serves as an effective management tool for restoring soil health in infested plots.

With its white flesh and consistent cooking quality, Rampel is a reliable choice for operations focused on stable, high-quality output. The variety adapts well to standard agronomic practices, including irrigation and fertilization management, ensuring that growers achieve their target yield potential even in challenging soil conditions.

Reliable Genetics from Poland

Pomorsko-Mazurska Hodowla Ziemniaka has built a reputation on breeding varieties that deliver tangible results in the field. Rampel represents their commitment to phytosanitary security. For the modern farmer, this means fewer interventions and a better, more marketable crop at harvest time, characterized by excellent storage longevity and firm flesh texture.
