Description Posvit
Posvit is a potato variety developed at the Polissia Experimental Station named after A.N. Zasukhin and recommended for cultivation in the North-Western, Central, and West Siberian regions since 1993. Plants of this variety have upright stems of medium height and dark green leaves with moderate venation. Posvit tubers are round, white, with a mass ranging from 78 to 101 grams. The variety is characterized by early maturity and medium yield. It is resistant to potato scab but susceptible to diseases such as late blight, powdery mildew, and macrosporiosis. To increase yield and shorten the vegetation period, it is recommended to pre-sprout tubers before planting. This agronomic practice allows harvesting 1.5–2 weeks earlier, increases yield by 15–30%, improves seed material quality, and reduces damage from insect pests. Posvit potato is suitable for various culinary purposes. For example, it can be used to prepare 'potato confit with dill' — a dish in which thinly sliced potatoes are baked in a mixture of butter and olive oil with garlic and dried dill until creamy. This dish is served hot and features a delicate flavor and aroma.
