Description NAVAN
The Navan potato variety is a medium-late British selection variety with a maturation period of 95 to 110 days. The tubers are oval-shaped with small eyes, have a smooth white skin and creamy flesh. The mass of marketable tubers varies from 64 to 103 grams, and the number of tubers per plant ranges from 8 to 12. The starch content is in the range of 11.2–14.9%, making this variety suitable for various culinary purposes, including salads, soups, frying, and producing crispy potatoes. The taste of the tubers is rated as good, and the storability reaches 98%, ensuring long-term storage without loss of quality.

The Navan plant is characterized by medium to high height, intermediate growth type, and semi-upright to spreading plant form. The leaves are small, green with slight leaf edge waviness, and the flower bud varies from small to medium size with a red-purple tint. The yield of this variety is stable and high — from 184 to 215 centners per hectare, with a maximum yield of up to 218 centners, exceeding some yield standards.

The variety is highly resistant to a range of diseases and pests: it is resistant to potato cancer, golden potato cyst nematode, as well as to viruses of crinkly and striped mosaic and leaf curl. At the same time, the variety is moderately susceptible to late blight on both foliage and tubers. Due to these qualities, as well as high marketability and uniformity of tubers, Navan is a valuable variety for cultivation in the Central region of Russia and is suitable for processing and long-term storage.
